The Mar Menor is surrounded by beaches. There are 42 kilometres (26 miles) of beaches around the pure, crystal waters of the Mar Menor which has a maximum depth of eight metres and is warm throughout the year, even in winter.

There are three beach areas, each with their own characteristics. First the Mar Menor beaches, sandy and leading into the calm, very warm Mar Menor lagoon. Second the Mediterranean on the ‘Eastern’ coast of the region, again sandy beaches leading to open sea. Third is the ‘Southerly’ coast. The landscape is different, still sandy beaches but many are protected by rocky outcrops surrounding them.

Two seas on one coastline - the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean, impressive cliffs, beautiful beaches of endless white sand, lively ports and wild coves with crystal clear water, more than 300 days of sunshine a year and mild temperatures - even in winter - with a yearly average of more than 18ºC. This is the Costa Cálida, the ideal place to relax both in winter and summer.
