La Manga offers a wide range of activities and attractions for everyone of all ages. Below are a few of the many things La Manga offers.
Walking
The La Manga region has many areas of natural beauty in its mountains, countryside and nature reserves. If you enjoy walking, you can explore these areas and see the variety of plant and animal wildlife. Only fifteen minutes drive away is Calblanque Nature Reserve where you can see beautiful views and go pony trekking, bird watching and cycling.
Museums
In La Manga and Murcia region you will find many different museums. The main city of Cartagena is a major naval port and so it has museums about the history of the military and the navy as well as other archaeological exhibitions. Cartagena is only about 20 kilometres away and is well worth a visit. You can learn more history about Cartagena by taking the open top bus tour around the city.

Other museums within easy reach are at San Javier (near Murcia Airport ) and at Los Alcázares further up the coast. San Javier has 3 museums which are the Nativity Museum , the Ethnographic Museum and the Reporter’s Museum. Los Alcázares has a museum dedicated to the development of the local air base.
Golf
There are many golf courses in the region so if you love the sport you will be able to find a golf course to suit you in La Manga. Amongst the ‘Premier League’ of courses and clubs are La Manga Golf Club, Roda Golf and Hacienda del Alamo and there are others of PGA standard. La Manga Golf Club is one of the finest clubs in Spain , with its three championship courses. It is also well known because of the famous stars of film and television and sport who play and stay there. If you like to play golf on a smaller scale, you can find a 9 hole pitch and putt at Veneziola Golf at the far end of the La Manga strip
Watersports & Boating
Many boat trips can be taken from the port of Tomas Maestre , approximately 14 kilometres along La Mange strip. Yacht and power boat charters are available including tuition to gain RYA qualifications. You can hire boats (with or without skipper) and explore the Mar Menor and the many islands that surround it. Every conceivable water pleasure is on offer. Waterskiing, banana boat rides, jet-ski, wakeboarding, knee boarding are just a few examples.
Sailing
From Tomas Maestre marina B & R’s Ferries (Telephone 0034 649 201 610) run regular sailings and excursions across the Mar Menor. This is the largest marina in the area and home to many expensive boats. The marina also has a wide variety of bars and restaurants. The ferry journey takes about 40 minutes and costs about 4 euros per person. You can take your bicycle with you for a small additional charge. The ferry goes to the small seaside town of Santiago de la Ribera on the west side of the Mar Menor. Here you will find great beaches, restaurants and bars, and a good mix of shops along pedestrianised streets. It also has a market on one day of the week.
Water Parks
Have fun whilst you get wet. There are several water parks in the area which will entertain you and your children for hours. The water park, known as Zanzibar, covers a total area of 30,000 m2 and aims to recreate the Indian Ocean archipelago of the same name. It offers a really refreshing oasis of relaxation just a short distance from the centre of Murcia.
Markets
The markets of the Murcia region have everything from art to strawberries. They are bright, colourful and full of fresh local produce. The fields of the Murcia region also supply major supermarkets throughout Spain and also the UK . On Sunday, visit the large market 2-3 kilometres away at Cabo de Palos where you can spend an interesting couple of hours browsing the large number of stalls and variety of things on sale.
